About This Guide

An unofficial guide to Welcome to Elderfield, built for the 1.0 release that launched on 10 September 2026. It exists because the problems people were actually hitting in the first week — the game not launching, saves disappearing, enemies acting three times in a row — were scattered across forum threads and wiki tables rather than answered in one place.

What This Site Is

A focused guide covering the parts of the game that block people: fixing launch and performance problems, keeping your save safe, understanding how combat and action points actually work, finding keys and mystery sites, and tracking down the achievements. It is not a database and not a wiki — where a question is already well answered elsewhere, we link out rather than duplicate.

How We Verify

Every factual claim on this site is traceable to a named source, and each page lists its sources at the bottom. Our order of preference is:

  1. Developer statements — pinned posts and replies from the developer in the Steam forums, and official Steam announcements.
  2. Official game data — the Steam store page and Steam API metadata, achievement data, and the official wiki.
  3. Cross-checked player reports — where a problem is confirmed by multiple independent reports, and only when we say so on the page.

Screenshots used across the site are official store assets published by the developer and publisher.

What We Won't Do

Three rules we hold ourselves to, because they are where game guides usually go wrong:

  • We do not invent numbers. If a damage formula, drop rate or level recommendation is not published by the developer or in the game's own data, we say it is undocumented rather than estimating one. You will find several tables on this site with "not recorded" in them, and that is deliberate.
  • We do not present demo-era information as current. The game changed substantially between the demo and 1.0, including a save-format break. Content is checked against the 1.0 release.
  • We do not hide contradictions. Where the official position and the community experience disagree — the Steam Deck Verified badge against widespread stutter reports, for example — we show both sides rather than picking the tidier one.

Where the game leaves something genuinely unknown, we mark it unknown. A guide that admits its gaps is more useful than one that fills them with confident guesses.

Contact and Corrections

Spotted something wrong, or have a confirmed detail that fills one of the gaps on these pages? Email [email protected] and we will review it. Accuracy matters more here than being first.

If you are reporting a correction, the most useful thing you can include is where the information came from — a screenshot, a forum thread, or the in-game text you saw. A specific claim with a source gets acted on faster than a general impression.

Disclaimer

This is an unofficial fan resource. Welcome to Elderfield was developed by Chris Cote and published by Kwalee. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the developer or publisher. All game names, artwork, screenshots and assets belong to their respective owners and are used here for identification and commentary.

Game content changes with patches. Where a fix or detail is version-sensitive, we note the version it was verified against.
